Residential Care Facilities

Bridgeview Manor and Jefferson Manor are answer to the frustration and worry families of severely mentally ill people feel…

Here’s what we kept hearing…

“Severe Mental Illness devastates people ability to live independently and their inability to work often subjects them to grinding poverty. We no longer have long term state hospitals for them, but they can’t live on their own yet.”

“Group homes are just warehouses. Residents don’t get any better. They just sit there.”

“How are residents supposed to afford help. They get $550.00 a month in social security, food stamps and that’s it. Sometimes if they are lucky they can get some additional help from the state through RSS but they still don’t get the help they need.”

As professionals we were alarmed at the number of assisted living facilities that were going out of business. We had no place for them except homeless shelters or having them live on their own even if it was dangerous.

There had to be a better way…

Bridgeview Manor and Jefferson Manor are innovative assisted living facilities with fully integrated on-site comprehensive mental health services including Psychiatry, Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Individual Therapy, Group Therapy, DBT Therapy and Chemical Dependency Treatment.

With this integrated model residents actually improve and move towards independent living. There is no prescribed length of stay. Clients stay as long as they need to from a few months to two years.

Setting

Bridgeview Manor is located in a Queen Ann Victorian Style Century Homes built in the 1880's. Meal times at Bridgeview Manor is a family type setting involving all residents and will be a learning opportunity. Bridgeview Manor is a furnished in an attempt to create a “home” rather than a “boarding home” like atmosphere.

Jefferson Manor is also a Quenn Ann Victorian Style Century Home built in the early 1900's.  Jefferson Manor is furnished with family style furniture.  A family feeling is captured as soon as you walk in the front door.

In addition to creating a “family feeling” among staff and residents, the programs also attempt to reach out and encompass resident’s natural families to the extent it is acceptable to the individual resident. As much as possible, families are included in treatment planning.
